World Food Day 16th Oct

‘For the first time in history, more than 1billion people are undernourished worldwide’ WFP

The society will be holding an event to mark World Food Day, repeating the huge success of our cooperation with the World Food Programme (WFP) last year.

The World Food Day marks the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) in 1945. The day aims to heighten public awareness about hunger, malnutrition and poverty. In 1980, the General Assembly endorsed observance of the Day in consideration of the fact that “food is a requisite for human survival and well-being and a fundamental human necessity” (resolution 35/70 of 5 December 1980).  This year’s theme for World Food Day is “Achieving food security in times of crisis”.
